Hedspin’s Rub-a-Dub Christmas Mix
 
Toronto-based DJ and producer Hedspin releases his first project with Obey Records in the form of a special Christmas mix. After discovering lovers’ rock while digging for dancehall records in the mid-1990s, Hedspin became hooked on the distinctive bass lines and simple yet emotive guitars that define the genre. He was inspired to learn more of the history and subsequently discovered rocksteady. Since then reggae and many of its expansive subgenres have become a mainstay both in his DJ sets and his daily life: Hopeton Lewis’ “Take It Easy” is a song Hedspin often turns to when the burdens of life are mounting. This mix was created to be a timeless accompaniment to your holiday gatherings—and hopefully a welcome departure from a traditional holiday playlist.
